Chronic Lyme Disease Complex:
A multifaceted disease entity caused by one or more infectious agents that can adversely impact the function of multiple organ systems. This includes but is not exclusive to the immune, endocrine, vascular and psychoneuronal systems. Symptoms associated with this process include chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, fractured/nonrestorative sleep and neuro/psychiatric disorders.
We provide a balanced approach to the literature supporting an open minded perspective in the management of Lyme disease and associated conditions

Summary of Dr. Volkman's recommendations to the IDSA Lyme Disease Guideline Committee
Dr. Steven Phillips provides an extensive review of the literature in his ILADS annual 2008 meeting In this presentation, Dr Phillips provides both consistent contradictions that IDSA guideline contributors make to their own guidelines, along with an impressive array of literature to support the recommendations provided by the ILADS guidelines.
“Confirmation Bias” and the recent IDSA guidelines. In essence, “The tendency to search for or interpret new information in a way that confirms one’s preconceptions, sometimes people see what they want to see”
[this lack of a nonbiased, nonbalanced approach by the IDSA is supported by Attorney General Blumenthal of Connecticut forcing the IDSA to withdraw the current guidelines]
Letter to Attorney General Blumenthal re: Dr Shor applies to participate on the 2009 IDSA committee for Lyme management guidelines. But is rejected for inappropriate exclusionary criteria.
Additional Examples:
-Igenex is not a reliable lab [in that it is seen to be more positive than most other labs]. HOWEVER, the attached document suggests otherwise, in essence that in fact Igenex has both a more sensitive technology when evaluating Borrelia burgdorferi and associated infections, and consistently rates among the highest of any national labs in reliability
-“there is no convincing biologic evidence for the existence of symptomatic chronic B burgdorferi infection among patients after receipt of recommended treatment regimens for Lyme disease.” Virtually all of their recommended treatment options are for no more than 28days.
HOWEVER, there is a plethora of data supporting the contrary: High Failure Rates in Late Disease; Short term antibiotics fail in 25%-71% of patients with late stage disease:
